The Royal Wedding: Best Dressed Guests

I must admit - I was not planning on watching the Royal Wedding live. My intention was to be in a deep sleep and watch the repeat later on in the day. However, I'm so happy I did, because I was thoroughly impressed! Oh, there is so much to talk about, but in this post - I will just focus on the style of the beautiful wedding guests.

After taking it all in - I rounded up some of my favorites - in no particular order.

Despite not putting this entire list in any order -  I must start with Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka is one of the highest paid Indian actresses, and has recently crossed over in the USA as the star of the hit show - Quantico. Priyanka wore a perfectly tailored Vivienne Westwood suit and a fascinator by Phillip Treacy. Her shoes were designed by Jimmy Choo.

Countess Karen Spencer, sister-in-law to the late and great Princess Diana definitely captured my attention with this rich violet dress by Pamella Roland. Her fascinator was created by Rachel Trevor Morgan.

Serena Williams, professional tennis player looks stunning in her pink Versace dress and matching fascinator. Whether it's because she's a new mom or just wanted to make a simple statement -  her braided ponytail brought it all together perfectly.

The beautiful Amal Clooney, wife of actor - George Clooney looked striking in this canary yellow dress by Stella McCartney with the matching fascinator. I also adored her metallic pumps!

Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle's mother was the only blood relative to accompany Meghan at the wedding. She looked very elegant in her mint green Oscar de la Renta suit. The simplicity of her matching fascinator was the perfect addition to complete this look.

Kitty Spencer, Princess Diana's model niece looked like a beautiful porcelain doll in her forest green Dolce & Gabbana dress. I wasn't too fond of many of the floral print dresses in attendance, but this one was definitely an exception. I'm not sure which part was my most favorite - the squared neckline of the A-line dress or the beautifully designed fascinator. The orange clutch and pumps was a great addition to bring out the floral design on the bottom half of her dress.

Last, but not least - Princess Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William. I noticed her dress during the ceremony as she joined in the singing of the hymns. I have always been a fan of Kate's fashion. She's always so simple, yet elegant. Kate previously wore this pale yellow dress by Alexander McQueen to her daughter, Charlotte's Christening as well as to Queen Elizabeth's birthday party. That made me love her and this look even more! I believe Kate didn't want to bring any attention to herself during Meghan's big day nor did she want a discussion regarding this look. However - it seems that many are discussing this look in admiration for her extremely kind gesture -  oh the irony.

I love how Beyonce keeps her family - especially children as private as she can while choosing when and where she will like to share them with the world. I believe that is why Beyonce is Beyonce. At home - she's probably just "mommy" and wants to keep it that way.

Kaftan Queen

Sherane Lee

When I think about kaftans - the first word that comes to mind is - QUEEN. Kaftans have been worn by multiple cultures and often are a symbol of royalty. I‘m drawn to the many fabrics, textures and designs. It screams royalty without having to say a word. I became drawn kaftan-like styles - including tunics & shirt- dresses because of the comfort and convenience - especially during the hot summer months. They also elongate my torso being that I’m short-waisted vs. other dresses with a distinct waistlines. I can go on and on - but I think the photos illustrate way more than I can explain.

Below are some photos of me being a Kaftan Queen in Dubai on my two-part honeymoon in 2015...

Everyday Tulle

Sherane Lee

One trend that I’ve been loving for a few years has been that of tulle & mesh - EVERYTHING. From my oversized mesh t-shirts to my over-the-top tulle skirts - I love it all. It maximizes my glam, while minimizing my effort. The best part - it’s no longer limited for special occasions.

When styled right - multiple layered and/or tiered tulle flatters your figure. I love how tiered layered tulle tops mask my stomach and voluptuous tulle skirts cinch my waist. Plus, adding a cropped blazer will always bring more structure & sophistication to the look.

I wore this look this past Friday night out with hubby... At first I was hesitant, because I thought it maybe too spring-like for this inconsistent D.C. weather - but the temperature was perfect.

I wore this tulle skirt to a brunch over the winter. Like I previously stated -  pairing a blazer with a big tulle skirt helps cinch my waist while giving me structure. Overall - it elevates the look - making it age-appropriate for a *cough* year-old woman like myself:-) Of course I had to add  vintage brooches...

Lady in Red

Sherane Lee

Hi Ladies!

I never thought I'd see the day I would be sharing my newfound love for the color red. What used to be a color I intentionally stayed away from, I now find myself shopping for.  Maybe the the power of trend has me under a spell, but this spring and summer - red will be one of my favorite colors coming out of my style house.

Be inspired...
